Chapter 193: The Breaking of a Soul
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE IMPERIAL SYNOD, AND TO ALL THOSE WHO MATTER ENOUGH TO BE INTERESTED
Now, we have come to this terrible moment of disgrace, not much to our surprise. Despite warnings and persistent efforts of our letters, we have come to this unfortunate situation where resentment prevails in the face of hate, evil, treacherous plans. It is well within this exact premise that we have lost our freedoms. Our liberty has been illustrated and painted in a bad light. It has been very dark and sinister.
Peril is ahead, for sure.
Thereby, we have proven to ourselves to be unworthy of liberty, and this irresponsible demeanor will cost us so much more. We have not determined the right path towards the determination of right and wrong, and now the rhetoric of the serpent will flow out into literature, into our words, into the power of persuasion, and it will become terribly dangerous to the person's eyes who could read it.
We simply cannot disregard this effect on our common patrimony, for the damage has been done, and now, our souls have become good and wicked in both of the same substance, as far as our hearts and minds can recognize the universal truth that is now incumbent upon us. This matter may bring good or bad; it can flourish or perish, depending on our decisions, and the choices we have to painfully take, yet miraculously accept.
This is very wrong, and untrue. That is so incompetent and recklessly made, that the Angels might revoke the liberty given to us, and they may conquer us again as a colony to maintain guidance, healing, and defense from all sort of evil.
Be that as it may, I find it futile by now to write to you anymore, and I am very discouraged to further my dissertation to have it compiled into a single volume for posterity to peruse, and use in critical appreciation of anything loving or sacrificial. Of anything good to conquer evil. Or whatever life takes us.
But I have a confession to make: I myself have become a victim of my own thoughts. I have become evil of my own making. And I created my own monster that needed to be slain, and killed at whatever cost it might take.
To anyone reading these letters, may you find the courage to continue my thoughts and complete what I have started. Be wary of the evil ahead, because the dangerous rhetoric must be overcome, but you must be vigilant to hold on to the power of the pen.
Best of luck.
Sincerely yours,
(Sgd.) Ezra Dunster
