Chapter 191: The Order of the Metaphysicians

The Prefect of the Order of the Metaphysicians arrived at the Museum of the Great Statues of Aspirations to hastily retrieve an important set of golden leaves bearing the pieces of the Most Precious Immortality Chant. He was holding his magical twig in an attack position, ready to strike for his defense in case anybody was waiting for him in an ambush.

"Lux splendida!"

The tip of his magical twig light up the room. As he entered, he immediately saw the statues of humanity's greatest dreams. From the heroic characters to the greatest yearnings, these statues have provided everything that is metaphysically present in humankind's collective existence, like the substance of character, service, and the various illustrious virtues.

He stopped as he heard something. Footsteps. Someone was walking down the aisle. He wasn't alone anymore.

"Who's there? Show yourself!"

He heard the sound of an otter. Then someone said, "Master Cabot?"

"Who--"

Cabot can't believe what he just saw. It brought sunshine to his face, very glad to see someone familiar, at last.

"Gapsworth!" Cabot exclaimed.

"Master!" Gapsworth answered with impish glee. "Master, is it really you? I thought they had you killed!"

"Long story, Gapsworth," Cabot said, petting the otter. "But I have an important thing to do for the Order. Do you know about--"

"Impetus!"

The chant hit the hand of Cabot, and his magical twig flew out of his hand. As he turned to see who attacked him, his face suddenly became filled with unspeakable horror.

"Ezra? Ezra Dunster?"

"Good work, Gapsworth. I will take it from here."
