Chapter 109: Old Branches

This scene is in the past. Again.

Cardinal Andrew Descent looks at the destruction below, from the top most floor of the Tower of the See of Old, wondering what went wrong and why Ezra Dunster was right about most of his writings. The several Sees have turned against each other, and now the magical twigs are attacking the Cardinals' more powerful old branches in what has been the major blow to the empire's fall.

The Consistory that was happening a while ago was alerted of this sudden attack, and now they have no choice but to fight back. The Cardinals quickly retrieved their old branches from their cloaks, and prepared themselves for battle.

"To freedom!" shouted the Rennaisance Society below.

There were people now attacking inside the Tower, and time is not their friend right now. They have been led into an ambush, and the plot to eradicate the Cardinals has been true, after all.

"Kill them all! Spare no one!"

The Cardinals quickly mobilized their defense, but apparently they were outnumbered. Cyborgs are now entering below, illustrators have been changing and shifting from one creature to the next, and the magical twigs have said the chants with good pronunciation.

He has no other choice. Cardinal Descent knows what must happen, as he have happened to read the letters from Ezra Dunster. One must not be too wrong to admit what he was warned before. The chances are slim, but he must retreat now.

He just hope Beloved will do the same.
