Chapter 104: A Dead Unicorn

The unicorn was dead. It was clear from the wounds inflicted to it. There were thirty four daggers that pierced its flesh, where the silver blood flowed from the wounds of the lifeless creature. It was a horrifying sight, seeing that unicorns have no real enemies, and only takes a neutral stand. They have not seen wars nor involved in any dispute or battles fought for reasons of greatness and eternal glory.

This murder came as a major shock. The Supreme Leader of the unicorns have been informed of such a sad loss of life, and some of the population has expressed worries on the current security of the Great Cube. Are the shields failing them once again? It is horrifying to come to a thought that history might be repeating itself. How could have the killer entered the shields? Is the Great Cube not safe anymore?

The Supreme Leader has called the Council of the Horns to discuss what could have happened. Everybody from the Council was in shock as the news spread that morning. Something is amiss. Something is terribly wrong.

"What are these daggers, Great Horns? I have never seen such weapons before. Do you have any leads?"

One of the Horns dared to speak, after carefully investigating the daggers that killed the poor unicorn. He was so sure from where the daggers came from.

"It appears to me these daggers are from the Neyork Blacksmiths. I am pretty sure of it."

The Great Horns has murmurred to each other as the statement came as a suprise. This cannot be happening.

"The Blacksmiths? This cannot be. The See of Colors is a great friend and ally. How can they attack us?" the Supreme Leader was confused, too, and could not find the right words to speak.

"And, anyway," he continued, "they have been banished long ago after the banning. Do you think this is a revenge targeted at us? For what cost? We have never harmed them."

The same Horn answered the Supreme Leader, "Our enemies are sometimes masquerading as friends. Unicorn blood is very precious. Especially for the colors. The enemy is sometimes unseen in the darkness."

"What do you mean, Great Horn? That the Neyork Blacksmiths are being used, as much as the Fountain Pen Masters? By whom?"

"The See of Colors will rise again. We cannot simply ignore the signs! We have studied the Book of Ezra Dunster for so long enough just to miss the omens!"

"I see. Unicorn blood is set to dye the most atrocious parchments in history. The hidden enemy desires more power than ever. More than the Garden of Eden and its Magical Tree, they have decided to cross the line. We must not ignore the signs."

The Council nodded in agreement.

"Let us prepare ourselves," said the Horn.
