Chapter 133: The Destiny Commission

"Any progress with that, Mr. Commissioner?"

The Secretary of Hope looks at him with an eye of concern. He was hoping for any good news from the Time Traveller as they try desperately to explore the other part of the universe. The Destiny Commission and its Time Project has come under scrutiny of the US Congress recently for making no progress at all. The Time Project was said to be an expensive governmental program with no visible sign of benefit as yet, and the politicians are already growing tired funding it.

"We are making progress but not as they expect," says the Commissioner. "We are trying very hard to explore the secrets of the past and how we can arrive with the metaphysical reality of the universe."

The Secretary of Hope nodded. "At least we are not as under fire as NASA's Jupiter program."

The Commissioner surely knows that will be brought up. "We will untangle the mystery of the past, Mr. Secretary."

"I know," the Secretary responded. "But do report any progress to the US Congress. The politicians are demanding the results already, no matter how hard we explain this program to them."

The Commissioner stared at him with a stern look. "It is not at all ethical to play with destiny, Mr. Secretary. That is what is at stake here. We simply cannot alter people's destiny and get them killed!"

The Secretary knows exactly what is being spoken. "I understand you. Inquiring about the past is, indeed, a dangerous thing. The Classical Greeks know as much as we do, and the wisdom of antiquity is begging us for more answers. We are trying the best we can, and we want to mitigate mistakes."

"In God we trust, Mr. Secretary." The Commissioner was certain of this.
