Chapter Twenty Nine: A Creature in Her Mind

She have seen them in her own eyes. There they were, waiting inside her mind. It felt like she was reading a very good novel and listening to an uplifting playing of music. She felt that she belong. It was too different from what the Scientific Council is teaching in their schools. As she was still savoring the moment, she heard the voice again.

"It is called the humanities," it said. There was delight in the voice.

"The humanities?" the little girl asked. "What does that mean? I never heard that word before."

"Yes, of course," the voice said. "It means that you are now looking at what makes yourself, yourself. It means that you can express yourself without any hesitation. It is the ultimate way of human expression."

"Ultimate way of human expression?"

"Yes," the voice said. It was very patient in explaining things to the little girl. "It starts with creativity. You can create whatever you want, expressing what you feel or sharing what you know. By this time, it takes the art form. The art penetrates into our consciousness. It awakens the spirit. And when it does, it becomes our collective humanity."

"But expression is prohibited here. It is against the perfect order."

"Against the perfect order?" the voice said in disgust. "There is no use of a perfect order. When everything is perfect, people do not make mistakes. They are tricked into believing that they are always right, when in fact something is wrong. Mistakes allows us to learn. It is the best way to wisdom."

"You are very different," said the little girl. "They are not like you."
