Chapter 199: Twigomentry

One of the most peculiar thing of the several departments of Magical Forestry is the art and science of Magical Twig manufacturing, known to the Imperial Synod as Twigomentry. Twigomentry is widely believed to have evolved in the same time as Magical Forestry itself, as old as the practice of the craft. It is considered to be the most fundamental discipline of all the coverage of this far-reaching subject.

As esoteric as it may sound, Twigomentry is involved in the making of Magical Twigs and Old Branches alike, in a process that has been too controversial in history to bear, and that its practice has been questioned throughout the past. It has something to do with the timely preservation of the Forests of Magic and the Office of the Magical Forestry have tried to address this concern, but more than just that something darker is involved. 

The Magical Twigs and the Old Branches must be able to hold its magical properties after the manufacturing process, which must be potent enough to effectively heed the chants of its users, and to prove compliance with the Spherical Supernatural Theorem as certified by the Safety Inspectors of The Anti-Plagiarists.

But then, the dark side of the industry was exposed by several Mythical Organizations, mostly without, but sometimes also within the Literary Committee, in that one of the necessary ingredients of the manufacturing is the blood of the unicorn. To kill an innocent unicorn makes its blood more capable, and many in the Literary Committee wanted their twigs to be of such a certain caliber albeit illegal and immoral.

But as criticisms mount thoughout the heard, even going as far as accusing the Literary Committee of hypocrisy on how they are treating mythical creatures to propagate this trade and weaponry, when they are supposed to safeguard the gentle nature of humanity, yet abusing the mythics. It is for this reason that the Rennaisance Society, being the manufacturing capital of the Magical Forestry, entered into an agreement known as the Treaty of Emancipated Mythology.

The treaty provided mostly for the ethical importation of unicorn blood for the making of the Twigs and Branches with certain standardized properties, just as much to make the Twigs to be strong enough to withstand its purposes. The Anti-Plagiarists have implemented strict measures to enforce this agreement, but, no matter the caution, something very bad has happened in the course of history.
