Chapter Forty: The Sanctuary
Francis quickly searched everyone after the Dangerous Lizards retreated, trying to take hold of what has transpired. If they can attack them within the Sanctuary, then there is no safe space for them anymore. All of the Outcasts that have been attacked by the Optics are still reeling with the pain, and Francis can't even manage to look at them.
What now? his mind was racing as hideous, negative thoughts dawned on him. If only everyone has a weapon, then they could protect themselves from the dangerous herd roaming the Magical Forests. If only parchments and fountain pens were here, then there's an equal playing field. Defending their honor has never been that easy, even before in the past, but especially now.
The Agreement must be read sooner than later, he told himself. The Magical Tree enshrined within the Sanctuary is hiding in plain sight, and it is very much needed. Indeed, nothing is now more important today than awakening the Magical Tree.
But what about their imagination? Have it occured before that the Dangerous Lizards can ruin it? What about its fruits? Can it not anymore summon parchments from it?
He knows that he cannot think of failure, so he tried to encourage himself. It was very hard at this point.
Someone has to retrieve the magical twigs for them before everything else. They shall also need the fruits, from which the parchments came. The Creatures can get nearer the magic, and once they do, their imagination will always be affected. Just like what happened in the last days, they can infiltrate the mind and destroy its power.
Sadly, the only functional magical twig right now is in the possession of the reader. She has to read the Agreement from where she was, for there is no one who can do it at this point, and now everything is resting on her place.
She has to point this remaining magical twig to the right direction, ready for her imagination to attack at anywhere. Only then that the Magical Tree will regain its power.
