Chapter 226: The Grand Jury Summons for Assemblyman Steam
He finally received the letter, the Summons that will eventually put him to trial. He remembered what happened all too well, that momentous event in the past. The Book of Arguments, as well as the Creatures Narrative, were still alive in his soul, but there is nothing that he can do for now. None, indeed.
However, as much as he was willing to take responsibility for everything that he had done, his heavy heart refuses to let go. He may did it out of his own doing, but he did not want to. He had no choice. Just as he was at the Museum earlier, none of it was made on his own accord. He was being held against his will. He had become somewhat a slave.
He was sick of it; actually, of everything. He was doing matters for someone more sinister than his own soul, and he cannot do anything to free himself from the chains of other people's greed. It was clear to him, the ploy, the mastermind of this evil regime. There is no perfect order; everything is fighting their own evil battle from within.
But to survive, he must find a way to break the chains. He sought help as much as he could, but he could not avail of any efficacy, even with an Alchemist and the dreaded elixirs. In spite of his diligent efforts, he felt more poisoned than cured, and his predicament have contaminated his thoughts even more, which could make the dangerous rhetoric active.
He cannot control the Creatures anymore and the diseases they carry from the stain of the dangerous rhetoric. The Creatures used to live in humanity's minds which is responsible for creativity and imagination, but not anymore.
The Taxonomists served the Summons to him without emotion, and were quickly gone after procedures have been accomplished. Assemblyman Steam stared at the Summons bearing his name, and wondered if the Agreement will ever be felt. He already accepted defeat and will just face whatever the future holds for him. He was very tired, and done fighting. His soul was exhausted.
As tears started to flow down his cheeks, his eyes glowed. It was a blinding light of color red.
