Chapter 162: A Few, Useful Chants

"I can see it now," said the Reader. "The Agreement was not a complete failure. There are a few pages of the Chants that have survived. But how can I get it? Should I just read it? Should I touch it? Pronounce it carefully? Beautifully? Say it well?"

The pages are still ruffling while in midair. The Manila Spectacles are showing it to her now. The pages are turning at full speed, until it stopped to a page with this heading:

ANNEXES
READ THIS FIRST IN CASE ANY AGREEMENT FAILS

THE CHANTS OF PERIL

"It stopped to a page now," the Reader reported. "I can see ten chants, but I am still uncertain on how to retrieve the page. Is it necessary for me to retrieve it before reading? Or should I read it now?"

Then, as if the Manila Spectacles had heard her query, a voice had suddenly spoken to answer her question. She knows to whom that voice belongs. It is the voice of Ezra Dunster:

Finally, the dilemma has been solved. But what if death is as clever as the truth? Then it cannot be defeated! We must find a way for death not to reach the ultimate truth. The truth is freedom, and in death there is no freedom.

The truth is liberating. The truth tells us the way. In truth there is no betrayal. Faithfulness is true. Peace is true. The truth is everywhere. It is nowhere equated to death.

Yes!

This is why these chants have been important. Everything starts with the truth. Death burns us into ashes, but like a phoenix, the truth rises from the ashes. That's it! Truth can never be defeated. Truth may be hidden with a lie, but it can never die. There is no death in truth.

Let me write this page then, just in case.
