Chapter 214: The Nodal Guards

The gold leaves and the ink were the primary debates at that time, but so is the control of the wind. They are deeply rooted in the revered instruments of an orchestra, after all, and a lot of thoughts have been shared, articulated, and passionately delivered in a manner worthy of a true contemplation in Congress assembled.

It concerns the Conclave as to what to do to the planned building of an army of the Empire, to be called the Nodal Guards, and the weapons to be entrusted for them, to be created under the umbrella and the authority of the Synod.

This narrative has happened in the past, and now we all know that in the future, everything has spelled doom for all of them. They have been blinded by the truth, and the manipulation of the facts have brought the inevitable destruction, and their eventual downfall for the lack of questioning of the events that subsequently followed.

The weapon of choice is the Brass Armlet, which can summon the maple leaf blades and several sharp wood splinters, voted for by the biggest majority in a normal Conclave in recent memory; it was a massive, clear majority, a big win for the wind instrument advocates, and what a smart choice in the judgment of most of them, indeed.

The Brass Armlets are too complicated to work on, however. The engineering specifications were met with extreme opposition from the mines, but a new system must be in place at once, to allow the manufacture of the weapons as soon as possible. Meanwhile, a Dicastery for the Guardianship Weapons was instituted to elect peacekeeping missions within the Imperial Synod, pending the establishment of the Nodal Guards.

The system worked beyond criticisms for a very long time. The transition to the Nodal Guards has been met with too much skepticism, but many of the doubts has been proven wrong. Everybody was very surprised that the fears were baseless concerns. It was the golden age; however, their overconfidence on challenges to come will result to their devastating downfall.

It did not end well for all of them.
