Chapter 307: Norbert's Acquaintance
"The Mushroom Shire will rise again. Here in this place. And the House of Dunster will disgracefully fall to the ground like ashes with the shame quite similar to the destruction of a fiery furnace, and what's left from the burning tragedy will be scattered everywhere by the raging wind, for all men and dwarves to see."
"But what about our support for the Literary movement? You have promised them your full cooperation with an oath of voluntary loyalty. You cannot simply disregard this holy bond; it is a territory impossible to escape from!"
"Betrayal? Who said something about betrayal? All men are addicted to power, that is why their ultimate destiny is death. All of them will perish, not one will survive in the end. To die in peril or to die from foolishness, it does not really matter. Only what's left of the remnants of power will ultimately remain."
"Then, what do you mean by this rhetoric? What do you want to achieve by participating in these multiple dangerous ploy in the complicated dynamics of the universe? Only traitors will consent in this way, you are gravely mistaken!"
"What else to pursue than to support their noble wishes? Have you seen any of the Dwarves of our kind who has failed to realize the purity of these metaphysical substances? Fools! That is the characreristic of the human race. There is nothing more, but this bitter truth."
"I still do not understand how you were able to condone treachery without feeling shameful."
"You are still too young to understand the complexities of the universe, Reuel. Every minute you exist in this appointed place of space and time is always a fight for complete survival, to overcome the intrinsic disorder. It does no good for anyone to knowingly keep himself in a corner, stagnant and helpless, by enduring suffering and whimpering quietly as a result of overthinking from all the cruelties of the world, and then let them, the purported rulers of these lands that once belonged to the Mushroom Shire, to rule everything as if it was an appointed right for them and usurping authority from the divine. It is also our prerogative, too, to reclaim what is rightfully ours."
"I have always thought that our treaty with the House of Dunster had always been just and favorable, effectively and faithfully observed in the passage of time. I guess I was wrong from this supposition. The whole point of this cooperative has just been to figure out how to topple the House of Dunster's claim to authority."
"Of course, you are not wrong in this manner of thinking. Harmony and peace are always desired by any of the flourishing civilization in different historical perspectives. What is there to gain if someone who is evidently powerless in society must contradict the schemes of those resting in the might of power? There is none, but foolishness, Reuel. And this is the main reason why history is replete with the brutal account of the many downfall of men."
"To wage a war in the false pretense of attaining this absolute perfection, that is the principal basis of delusion, isn't that correct?"
"It is."
"But Chieftain Norbert, I still feel bad when considering the employment of betrayal in our response to the steering intervention of the destiny of the literary world. It is not proper to break the trust of those who rely for our help and kindness. We are not actually monsters in sheep's wool, aren't we? We owe it to the House of Dunster a certain form of gratitude, no matter the events that unfolded before the occupation and afterwards. The Literary Committee does not deserve to be betrayed in this shameless manner."
