Chapter 264: The Councilman's Crystal Staff
It was a long time ago when the inhabitants swearing allegiance to the Scientific Council, much longer than the establishment of the Institutes of Antonyms within the Imperial Synod, were known to the many of common knowledge as Councilman (as opposed to the Literarians swearing loyalty to the Literary Committee) and with special characteristics just like everyone else that is residing within the territorial confines of the prosperous and beautiful Sovereign See of Dunster.
The Councilmen has long rejected (a subject matter within the several tales to be emphasized over and over) the use of the Magical Twigs by their own kind, simply because they have been totally aware of the potential of their very own scientific pursuit than to partially depend on the concept of "magical realism," as it was articulated to them a long time ago. Some even call this magic as a form of a Miracle that the Angelic Hosts have in their own disposal.
Instead, the Scientific Council has armed its very competent adherents with a weapon of their own called the Crystal Staff. It was very similar to the Magical Twigs, except that it was made of an iron rod with the crystal imbeded in the handle, although, as a matter of comparison, it very much functions in the same manner.
The crystals used for this rod (as well as the element of steel) that enables the Staff to dispense its intended purpose was also mined in a special geographical region that was very much close to the boundaries of the Bishopric of the See of Dunster, where the Principal Legate maintains the authority of his office. In as much as the Magical Forestry was concerned with the fundamental preservation of its own Magical Twigs and the corresponding manufacture of such artifact, and so is the Foreman-in-Charge was responsible to all the important peculiarities pertaining to the creation of the Crystal Staff.
However, as the Scientific Council's evil pursuit gained enough traction to completely overthrow the authority of the Literary Committee in their own Vicariate, the manner of use and the art of practice that relates to these Crystal Staff has, since that fateful day (which was known as the Final Days), vanished completely from everyone's awareness, including the same mechanisms involved in the functions of the Magical Twigs.
As tyranny finds its way into the midst of government instrumentalities under the guise of a perfect order, the Tower of Taxonomy quickly dominated society to enforce this order while the powers of the Councilman has been stripped off from their grasp by the compulsary confiscation of the Crystal Staff because of reasons of national security concerns.
It was concluded by the Scientific Assembly, in adapting the Bill seeking to get rid of these Crystal Staffs, that these weapons were remnants of the same literary pursuit of the Magical Twigs that will later on alter the status quo and prevent them from attaining the more perfect order.
All of these Crystal Staffs were destroyed, except for one, which was buried somewhere waiting to be found. And with it, there was a less common man who came to forge an Agreement with the Literary Committee, as a duly sworn Playwright in his own capacity, to counter the aggression and retrieve all the things that have been banned.
